The Buffalo Sabres first-period scoring slump continued Friday night against the New York Islanders. The Blue & Gold also had a second- and third-period scoring slump in the game. New York won 5-1.

New York goals came from Anthony Beauviller, Ryan Strome, John Tavares, Andrew Ladd and Calvin DeHaan. Zemgus Girgensons scored the Sabres lone goal with 1:03 left in regulation. Zack Bogosian and Sam Reinhart assisted on the goal.

The Sabres next play Tuesday in Detroit.
