Helen M. (Lysaght) Taczak, age 76, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed from this life on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at her home.  Born on January 14, 1940 in Niagara Falls, NY, Helen was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (McCormick) Lysaght.

Helen was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY.  She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1958.  Helen spent her life as not only a homemaker, but also a waitress at the former Sears Coffee Shop and a bartender for the former Lincoln Hotel.  She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Cataract Church and a member of the John Duke Senior Center.  In her younger years, Helen played basketball for the former Our Lady of Lebanon School.  She enjoyed gardening, bingo and loved the casino.

Helen is survived by her children, Robert (Marylouise) Taczak, Donna Pettitt and Lori (James) Commack; grandchildren, James Commack, Peter Commack, Derek Pettitt and Morgan Commack; her sister, Patricia (late Hank) Augustyniak and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by one son, Michael Taczak and four siblings, Marie Reinhold and John, Frank and Michael Lysaght.

The family will gather to receive friends on Tuesday, from 2-4 p.m. in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, in the Town of Niagara, where a funeral service, honoring Helen’s life, will follow at 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Jeffrey Nowak officiating.  Private interment will be held on Wednesday in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Helen in the form of a contribution, are asked to consider, the SPCA of Niagara or the John Duke Senior Center.
