The Canisius College women’s lacrosse team has officially released its schedule for the 2017 season, head coach Scott Teeter announced Tuesday.
The schedule is highlighted by three matchups against teams ranked in the top twenty of the 2016 IWLCA coaches poll, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 4 Syracuse and No. 10 Northwestern.
“We are excited to once again be facing some of the top competition in the nation,” Teeter said. “We will face tough opponents both in non-conference play and the MAAC. We hope that will only make us stronger as the year progresses.”
The Griffs begin the 2017 season with four non-conference road contests against Northwestern (Jan. 30), Oregon (Feb. 13), Syracuse (Feb. 18) and Binghamton (Feb. 21).
The team will then host Columbia in its home opener on Feb. 25, before closing out non-conference play with contests against Delaware (Mar. 3), North Carolina (Mar. 5), Duquesne (Mar. 8) and Michigan (Mar. 12).
The Blue and Gold have eight conference games on their schedule, opening MAAC play with a road matchup against Manhattan on Mar. 25.
The rest of the conference schedule has the Griffs facing Iona (Apr. 1), Siena (Apr. 5), Quinnipiac (Apr. 15) and Niagara (Apr. 26) at home, while taking on Monmouth (Apr. 8), Marist (Apr. 12) and Fairfield (Apr. 22) on the road.
