Finals week is just around the corner at Buffalo State, which means the fall sports semester is wrapping up with its final games this weekend before the student-athletes return home for break.

Here’s what’s on tap this week for Buffalo State Athletics:

Men’s Hockey

No. 10/11 men’s hockey (8-2-1, 4-1-1 SUNYAC) looks to close out the first half of the season on a high note as it hosts SUNYAC foes Cortland on Friday at 7:07 p.m. and No. 1 Oswego on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Buffalo State College Ice Arena.

Friday’s pregame promotional efforts against Cortland will include face-painting, catered food from Chipotle and games from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on the second-floor of the arena.

To go with the action on the ice, in-game promotions will include a “mite” skate, t-shirt tosses, a jersey and 50/50 raffle and a $1,000 shootout that a Buffalo State student could get a chance to win who is in the crowd.

You can watch Friday’s game vs. Cortland live on Time Warner Cable Sports Channel (323), or right BuffaloStateAthletics.com.

If you can’t make it out to the Buffalo State campus, Saturday’s showdown between the nationally-ranked Bengals and No. 1 Lakers can be watched live here.

The Bengals will then be off until the Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational in Boston, Mass., Jan. 6-7.

Men’s Basketball

Buffalo State is on the road for two SUNYAC contests this weekend.  The Bengals (5-1, 1-1) face Cortland on Friday at 5:30 p.m. before traveling to Oswego to take on the Lakers on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Bengals have been one of the more exciting teams to watch this season, as they are second in the SUNYAC and 23rd in all of Division III in scoring at 88.8 points per game.

While every other Buffalo State team is done until after the New Year, men’s basketball gets the chance to head down to Miami, FL to take part in the Miami Shootout Dec. 18-19 before taking off on break.

Women’s Basketball

The women’s basketball is also on the road, as they too will be taking on Cortland and Oswego in SUNYAC contests.  The Bengals (4-4, 1-1) play the Red Dragons on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and follow it with a match up against the Lakers on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Princella McCullough (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) has recorded five double-doubles for the Bengals and is third in all of Division III with 15.3 rebounds per game.

Caleh McLean (New Rochelle/New Rochelle) leads the team in scoring, averaging 12 points per game.

You can watch Friday’s contest against Cortland here and Saturday’s against Oswego here.

After this weekend, women’s basketball will be off until a road-tilt with Brooklyn College on Jan. 3.
