BUFFALO — Nico McLean (Buffalo/Amherst) scored 22 points, leading a balanced Buffalo State attack as the Bengals cruised to a 91-67, SUNYAC win over Potsdam at the Buffalo State College Sports Arena this afternoon.

McLean led the Bengals in scoring and added three steals. J.O. Spence (Brooklyn/Bayard Rustin) finished with 12 points and six rebounds while Mike Henry (Syracuse/West Genesee) chipped in 11 and 5. 10 different Bengals scored at least four points in the win. Both teams struggled to get going offensively in the opening minutes of the first half. Potsdam went up by as much as nine, 27-18, with 6:41 left in the first. Buffalo State’s offense woke up, and starting knocking down shots in numbers.  The Bengals went on a 25-11 run to end the first with a 43-38 lead. The Bengals scored the first seven points to open the second half off layups from Lovell Smith (Buffalo/McKinley) and Jordan Glover (Buffalo/St. Joe’s). Glover followed up that sequence with a three to make it 50-38 less than 45 seconds into the half. Buffalo State never looked back, and went up by as much as 26 in cruising to its 91-67 win.
