BUFFALO — Down 3-2 in the third period, the Buffalo Sabres got a pair of goals from a not-so-unlikely source tonight to walk out of the KeyBank Center with a 4-3 win over the New York Rangers.

Jack Eichel’s second and third goal of the season came just 1:43 apart in the third period. Brian Gionta and Johann Larsson tallied the Sabres’ other two goals en route to the win. Anders Nilsson stopped 22 of the 25 shots against him by the Rangers,

NOTES:

  • With his goal, Johan Larsson now has a point in each of his last three games against the Rangers (2+1).
  • Brian Gionta, who had a goal and an assist, now has 14 points (7+7) in his last 15 games against the Rangers.
  • Marcus Foligno recorded an assist on Gionta’s goal, marking the 100th point of his NHL career.
