NIAGARA UNIV. — Niagara baseball head coach Rob McCoy has announced the Purple Eagles’ schedule for the 2017 season. Highlights of the schedule are matchups with ACC, Big 12 and Atlantic 10 opponents.

“I am extremely excited about this year’s schedule,” said McCoy. “It is filled with quality opponents that will challenge our team week in and week out. The MAAC conference is getting more and more competitive every year which makes every weekend a dog fight. Everyone in our program is excited to get things kicked off.”

The Purple Eagles open their season with a three-game series at Baylor Feb. 17-19. Following Baylor, Niagara plays a three-game series with Norfolk State (Feb. 25-26).

Niagara will participate in the University of Virginia Tournament on March 3-5 where the Purple Eagles take on LaSalle (March 3 and March 5) and Virginia (March 3 and March 4).

The Purple Eagles continue non-conference play on the road against Virginia Tech (March 7), Marshall (March 10-11), Bowling Green (March 17-19) and Little 3 rival St. Bonaventure (March 21).

Niagara opens MAAC play with a three-game series against Manhattan on March 25-26. The games will be held at Dutchess Satdium, home of the Hudson Valley Renegades and site of the 2015 and 2016 MAAC Championships, in Fishkill.

The Purple Eagles open their home schedule in April, hosting Saint Peter’s on April 1 and 2, Quinnipiac April 8-9 and St. Bonaventure on April 11.

Niagara will hit the road again to take on Rider (April 14-15) and Monmouth (April 22-23). The Purple Eagles and Canisius, who are co-hosting the 2017 MAAC Championships, will play a game at Sal Maglie Stadium, site of the 2017 MAAC Championships, on April 26.

Niagara heads back home to host Fairfield for a three-game series on April 29-30. The Purple Eagles continue non-conference play against Big 4 rival Buffalo on May 2 and at Lafayette on May 6-7. Niagara closes out non-conference play against Buffalo; Niagara will host the Bulls on May 9 and will play at UB on May 10.

The Purple Eagles wrap up the regular season hosting Siena on May 11-12 and heading to Canisius for a three-game series on May 18-19.

The 2017 MAAC Championships will be held on May 24-28 at Sal Maglie Stadium in Niagara Falls.
