ROCHESTER — Mac Wood (Simcoe, ON/SCS) scored twice and Buffalo State skated to a convincing 5-1 victory over host Nazareth tonight in a non-conference matchup.

Zach Remers (Clarence, NY/Canisius), Jake Rosen (E. Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) and Anthony Passero (Fort Erie, ON/Lakeshore) also scored for the Bengals, and Darren Young (Woodstock, ON/St. Mary’s) had two assists. Remers opened the scoring just 1:17 into the game with his fourth of the season.  Wood added his third and fourth goals of the season to push the score to 3-0 before the first intermission.

Passero netted his third of the year for the only marker of the middle frame, and Rosen’s third of the year on the power-play in the middle of the third expanded the lead to 5-0. Nazareth finally scored with just 56 seconds remaining, as Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling, NY/Pawling) conceded a goal for the first time in three games. DeLaVergne finished with 27 saves in the win.

Buffalo State outshot the Golden Flyers 10-4 in the first period, but Nazareth held a 28-25 edge for the game.
