BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo named Cassie Oursler and Blake Hamilton Athletes of the week.

Junior center, Oursler finished off one of her best weeks of her career by leading UB to a perfect 2-0 record while averaging 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 assists. On Tuesday, Oursler netted the game-winning bucket with three seconds remaining to give UB the huge 71-69 win over Duquesne. Oursler finished off the game with 11 points and three rebounds. Saturday, Oursler had the best game of her career as she netted a new career-high 18 points on 7-for-13 from the floor while also grabbing eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks. The junior has helped UB start the season 5-0 for the second straight season, marking the first time they have started 5-0 in back-to-back seasons in program history. She is now averaging 10.8 points and 4.8 rebounds through five games.

Hamilton was named to the All-Tournament team of the prestigious Great Alaska Shootout after he averaged 24.3 points over UB’s three games, helping Buffalo to a third place finish. In UB’s opening game against an Alaska Anchorage team that has beaten a D-I opponent in 32 of 39 Great Alaska Shootouts, Hamilton led all scorers with a career-high 36 points, tied for the eighth most in a single-game in tournament history. Twenty-nine of his 36 points came in the second half. Hamilton added 14 points on Friday night against Nevada and on Saturday evening he had 23 points in a win over defending Big Sky Champion, Weber State. Hamilton scored five points over the final 15 second to clinch the comeback win. Over the tournament, Hamilton also added 8.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He was nearly perfect from the free throw line, hitting 21-of-23.
