NIAGARA UNIV — The Niagara Purple Eagles will wrap up their three-game road swing at the Big Ten’s Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Sunday at Noon.

The Purple Eagles are in search of their first win after opening the season with three games in five days. Niagara lost a close game to local rival and two-time defending MAC champion Buffalo in the season opener before starting a three-game trip at Brown where the Purple Eagles fell 88-79. NU rallied from a 14-point second half deficit to force overtime before falling in the extra session to the Hartford Hawks, 82-78, as part ESPN’s ninth annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon on Nov. 15. This will be Niagara’s second game in the Scarlet Knight Classic. Niagara won the only previous meeting with Rutgers, defeating the Scarlet Knights, 73-61, on Dec. 18, 1969
 
Three Purple Eagles are averaging in double figures – Matt Scott (17.3 ppg), Kahlil Dukes (13.3 ppg) and Dominic Robb (10.3). Matt Scott has two 20-point games this season, including leading NU with a season-best 26 points on a season-high 8-for-16 from the field and career-best five 3-pointers on 10 attempts at Hartford. Scott has 12 20-point games in his career. Kahlil Dukes is the only Purple Eagle to score in double figures through the first three games this season. Matt Scott has led or shared team-high honors in assists in every game. Dominic Robb has had two blocks in each game. Robb led Niagara with 1.1 blocks per game last season. The Purple Eagles had 10 steals in the season opener; NU had three 10-plus steals games last season. Dwayne Pow leads NU with 2.3 steals per game.
