BUFFALO — The Tampa Lightning downed the Buffalo Sabres by a score of 4-1 at KeyBank Center Thursday night, the night of Sabres Head Coach Dan Bylsma’s 500th game as a coach.

Tampa opened the scoring at 8:15 of the first period with a goal by Nikita Nesterov.

The Lightning took a 2-0 lead 7:39 into the second period with a power play goal by Alex Killorn. Buffalo tied it with a power play goal of their own at 12:50 of the second period. The Cody Franson goal was assisted by Evander Kane and Tyler Fedun. It was Kane’s first assist of the season and Fedun’s first assist as a Sabre. With just 18 seconds remaining in the second Nikita Kucherov made it 3-1 for Tampa.

With 2 minutes remaining in the contest, Brayden Point made it 4-1 for Tampa.

With the loss, the Sabres have not lost three straight games in regulation for the first time since Jan. 20 to 25. They are winless in six games.
