ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Niagara women’s basketball team lost a tough test with Michigan on Sunday afternoon.

The Purple Eagles got on the board quickly in the first quarter; with a little over nine and a half minutes left, Kaylee Stroemple scored two to put Niagara ahead, 2-0. Rampado scored six points in the first quarter, but the Wolverines pulled ahead and led Niagara 29-12 at the end of the quarter. Tiffany Corselli opened scoring in the second quarter, hitting a 3-pointer about 40 seconds in.
Corselli came out strong for the Purple Eagles in the third quarter, hitting her second three of the game with a little under nine minutes remaining. Michigan, however, remained in the lead and ended the third quarter in the lead, 86-26. Emily Granruth made an impact late in the game, hitting two consecutive 3-pointers. Freshman Maggie McIntyre also sank a three with a little over one minute remaining in the game.

The Purple Eagles take on Big 4 rival Buffalo at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Following UB, Niagara hosts the 2016 Big Ten Champion Maryland Terrapins on Nov. 20 at noon.
