BUFFALO — Taylor Pryce (Newmarket, ON/Cardinal Carter) scored two goals in the first two periods of play as Buffalo State went on to defeat No. 5 Plattsburgh, 4-1 tonight in a SUNYAC contest at the Buffalo State Ice Arena.

Pryce finished the night with two goals while Zach Remers (Clarence/Canisius) and Michael Anthony Guerrera (Montreal, QC/Ontario Hockey Academy) each added tallies of their own. Brody Power (Toronto, ON/Upper Canada College) chipped in two assists. Remers got the scoring started 5:23 into the game, as he tipped home a point shot from Power to give Buffalo State a 1-0 lead. Pryce scored his first of the game with just three minutes left in the first period.  He stole the puck from a Plattsburgh defender on the side of the net, cut to the front, and slapped his shot home to make it 2-0.

Plattsburgh cut the lead in half as Cole Stallard netted a power play goal just 34 seconds into the second to make it 2-1, Bengals. Pryce responded five minutes later on a Buffalo State 5-on-3 opportunity. He received the puck at the point and collapsed to the slot where he ripped a shot bar down that knocked off a water bottle to put Buffalo State ahead, 3-1. Guerrera sealed it with an empty-net goal with 40 seconds left to play, as his clearing attempt found the net to make it 4-1, Buffalo State. Mike DeLaVergne (Pawling/Pawling) finished the night with 22 stops to pick up the victory, including a late third period save on a Cardinal penalty shot with minutes left to play. Buffalo State forced Plattsburgh to go 1-for-10 on its power play chances. DeLaVergne made nine third period saves to lead Buffalo State to the win.

Buffalo State is right back at it as it hosts Potsdam at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Buffalo State Ice Arena
