BUFFALO —  The Buffalo Sabres lost 2-1 to the Ottawa Senators in a shootout at KeyBank Center.

Nicholas Baptiste opened the scoring for the Buffalo Sabres in the first period, assisted by Derek Grant and Williamsville native, Cole Schneider, who recorded his first career NHL point with the assist.

After Ottawa tied the game in the second period, the two teams played a scoreless third period and overtime before the Senators took the win in the shootout.

The Sabres next play Friday when the New Jersey Devils visit KeyBank Center.
