BUFFALO — A 31-year-old Buffalo man pleaded guilty today to being a felon-in-possession of a gun before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Adler, who is handling the case, stated that during the execution of a search warrant on Jan. 16, 2015, at Casidus Carr’s residence on Dunlop Avenue in Buffalo, law enforcement officers discovered a loaded firearm and ammunition. The defendant was previously convicted in 2005 on a New York State charge of Manslaughter 1st preventing him from legally possessing a firearm.
The plea is the result of an investigation on the part of law enforcement officers of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Safe Street Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Adam S. Cohen and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Timothy Howard.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 8.
