JAMESTOWN — A 21-year-old Jamestown man was charged Sunday with impaired driving, as well as possession of a controlled substance and weapons possession.

According to New York State Police, Austin Messere was pulled over on Marion Street in Jamestown for a traffic violation and after failing several field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest. While searching Messere’s vehicle, a digital scale containing cocaine residue and an electronic stun gun were located.

Messere was transported to SP Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .06. A State Police Drug Recognition Expert responded to SP Jamestown and evaluated Messere for cocaine and marijuana impairment.

In the end, Messere was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs/alcohol combination, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was processed, arraigned in the Town of Ellicott Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.
