The Canisius cross country team wraps up its home schedule on Saturday, as the squad hosts the Alumni Classic tomorrow afternoon at Delaware Park. The race will get underway with the women’s 5k at 12 p.m., followed by the men’s 8k at 12:45 p.m.

Canisius has seen quite a bit of success at its home meet, sweeping the event in 2013 and 2014 and coming second on the men’s side and third in the women’s side in 2015.

Now assistant coach Chad Maloy won the men’s race with a time of 24:47 while current Griff Siobhan Quinn was the fastest women’s runner in the event with a fifth-place showing and a time of 18:19.8

The Blue and Gold are coming off a weekend that saw school records broken at the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 1. Brennan Root recorded the team’s fastest finish at the Paul Short with a time of 24:21, while teammate and freshman Donovan Glavin was close behind with a time of 24:59.

Quinn also got in on the historic day, setting the school record at the Paul Short with a time of 20:58.  Carlin Sullivan was also in the mix with a time of 22:09.

Upon completing the race tomorrow afternoon, the team will set their sights on MAAC Championships, which will be held Saturday Oct. 29 at the Wide World of Disney complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
