The women’s 12th place finish was enough to beat Duquesne and Lehigh, who were ranked 11th and 10th in the Mid-Atlantic region, respectively. Stephanie Ward led the way once again for the women. The freshman is proving to be a driving force the Bulls, having been the first Bull to cross the finish line in each race this season. The Honeoye Falls, NY native brought home a 25th place finish Friday, clocking in at 20:59 and averaging a 5:37 mile. Ward missed out on a 24th place finish by one second. Also performing well for Buffalo is junior Morgan Mahoney. Mahoney was able to seal a 41st place finish, clocking in at 21:16.
The men weren’t able to take home a finish as well as they had hoped. They took home a 14th place finish with 337 points. Jack Jibb, a sophomore from Monroe, NY, took away a 38th place finish. Jibb finished with a time of 25:48. His time was one second faster than the 39th place finisher from Virginia Tech. Brian Crimmins also helped pace the Bulls, clocking in at 26:09.
The Bulls traveled half of the team to University Park; the other half will be competing at the Canisius Classic Saturday. The race is set to begin with the women at noon and the men at 12:45pm.
