RANDOLPH — A 39-year-old Jamestown man was charged Wednesday with unlawful possession of marijuana and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following a traffic stop on I-86.
According to New York State Police, Howard McAvoy was pulled over for speeding and the Troopers placed him under arrest for AUO after a license check revealed his driving privileges were suspended. While searching McAvoy prior to securing him in the patrol vehicle, a marijuana smoking device and a small amount of marijuana was located in his pocket. McAvoy was additionally charged with UPM.
McAvoy was transported to the Town of Randolph Court where he was arraigned, remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail and is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Randolph Court next month to answer the charges.
