BUFFALO — Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports deputies made several drug-related arrests over the weekend.

Friday at 10:46 p.m. in the Town of Holland, ECSO deputies stopped a vehicle on Partridge Road for a traffic violation. While speaking to the occupants, deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, leading to them finding seven ounces of marijuana in that vehicle. Arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana were Mark Shanks, 22, of Orchard Park, and Brandon Clemens, 21, of East Aurora. Both subjects were released on appearance tickets.

At 3 a.m. Saturday, a deputy stopped a vehicle on Whitehaven Road on Grand Island. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the deputy observed a passenger throwing items out of the vehicle. The deputy found that the driver’s license was suspended and both occupants were detained. During a search of the vehicle a quantity and crack cocaine and marijuana were discovered and the occupants were arrested.  The driver, Neko Bishop, 28 of Buffalo, was charged with felony counts of criminal possession of a narcotic and tampering with physical evidence, as well as a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation and numerous vehicle and traffic violations. Joshua Salvo, 22 of Niagara Falls, was charged with felony counts for criminal possession of a narcotic and tampering with physical evidence.  An additional bag of crack was located along the road. Both defendants were taken to the Erie County Holding Center.

Sunday at 12:53 p.m. in the Town of Clarence, deputies responded to a report of an individual hanging partially out of his vehicle and sleeping in a parking lot on Transit Road. During a search of Nathan Olejniczak, 23, of Alden, deputies discovered multiple bags of heroin. The subject was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and was taken to the holding center.

At 4:24 p.m. a deputy responded to calls of an individual using narcotics in a parking lot on Grand Island Boulevard. Two individuals were detained and their vehicle was searched, resulting in multiple bags of heroin, hypodermic syringes, and other paraphernalia being found. Arrested and charged were Sean Riordan, 24, of Grand Island, and Michael Wienckowski, 26, of Grand Island for criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic instrument.  Riordan was taken to the Erie County Holding Center while Wienckowski was turned over to Cheektowaga Police Department on an outstanding warrant.

At 11:43 p.m., deputies stopped a vehicle for erratic operation on Interstate 190 near River Road. Naomi Paolucci, 30, of Depew was found to be in possession of heroin and marijuana. She was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. She was taken to the Erie County Holding Center.

At 1:10 a.m., in the Town of Holland, an ECSO deputy arrested Jermaine Locke, 31, of Buffalo, and Rebecca Maldonado, 26, of Olean following a traffic stop.  A search of the vehicle discovered a hypodermic needle, Suboxone, and crack cocaine.  Maldonado was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic instrument, operating a vehicle with a suspended registration and vehicle and traffic violations.  Locke was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and both defendants were taken to the Erie County Holding Center.
