As the Canisius women’s lacrosse team works through its fall schedule and tunes up for the season, select members of the team, including head coach Scott Teeter, are donning their country’s colors and competing with Canada’s senior women’s lacrosse team at the Team USA Fall Classic in Sparks Md., this weekend. Team Canada plays Australia on Oct. 8 and rival United States on Oct. 9.

Teeter’s roster will feature current and former Blue and Gold players and staff members, as the squad readies for the two-game exhibition format. Among the current Canisius players are Tessa Chad, Ashley Bull, and Erica Evans.

Meanwhile Former players and Canisius alumni, Allison Daley and Carly Quinn will also see action, as will current assistant coaches of the program, Tori Quinn and Kaylin Morissette.

While this weekend will be focused on continued evaluation of his roster, the squad, which currently has 40 roster players, will then be cut, nearly in half, as Canada attempts to work towards the 2017 World Cup.

International play is nothing new for the Blue and Gold, especially Teeter. The 2017 World Cup will be the head coach’s third stint taking the reigns of Canada’s national team.

Teeter made history with the U-19 squad, leading the team to its first-ever gold medal victory, over Team USA in 2015, and now moves up to the senior ranks to attempt to work his magic in that demographic.

Coming with Teeter are two important cogs in the Golden Griffin lineup, as Chad and Evans move up from the U-19 ranks looking for the same success.

Evans was an integral player in the 2015 run, as the Canisius standout earned All-World Team accolades, scoring 29 points and 24 goals in eight games, while Chad also gained key experience in the tournament.

Saturday’s match against Austrailia is slated for 6:30 p.m., while Sunday will feature a pair of contests, beginninag at 9 a.m. against England and 2 p.m. against the United States. Both matches can be streamed through the Lacrosse Sports Network with a subscription.
