NIAGARA UNIV. — The Niagara University volleyball team closed out the weekend with a home conference win against Saint Peter’s.
The Purple Eagles defeated the Peacocks in three sets, closing out the weekend 2-0 at home in conference play. In a close battle to start the first set, which had seven tied scores and three lead changes, the Purple Eagles prevailed; Niagara went on a 9-1 run midway through the first set, ultimately leading to a 25-18 win.
Niagara controlled all of the second set and never lost the lead. Madison May had a set-high six kills, with teammate Alexis Gray handing out a set-high six assists to lead the Purple Eagles to a 25-16 win. The Purple Eagles eased by the Peacocks in the third set, winning 25-12. Madison May outdid her work from the previous set, tacking in seven kills. Alexis Gray gave out six assists, three being to May.
Niagara now stands 3-0 at home this season, the first time since 2012.
The Purple Eagles head to Connecticut for matches against Fairfield Saturday and Quinnipiac on Oct. 2.
