ORCHARD PARK — Tyrod Taylor and Buffalo Bills offense came together this afternoon at New Era Field as the Buffalo defense added six points and four take-aways to help the Bills defeat the Arizona Cardinals 33-18.

Buffalo scored early and often, refusing to let up on Arizona after taking a 17-0 lead with a Dan Carpenter field goal, and touchdown runs of 24 and 5 yards by LeSean McCoy. Arizona scored late in the half to make it 17-7 going into halftime — with Arizona getting the ball to start the third quarter.

In the third, Taylor ran 20 yards into the end zone. Carpenter missed the point after try, however, giving the Bills a 23-7 lead. A blocked field goal and 53-yard return by Aaron Williams extended Buffalo’s lead to 30-7.

On the ensuing possession, the Cardinals marched 83 yards on just six plays with David Johnson pounding out the last 22 for a touchdown run to cut the Bills lead to 17 (30-13) with under a minute to play in the third quarter. A 60-yard Arizona field goal then made it a two-possession game at 30-16.

Carpenter added a field goal of his own — 45 yards — to return the Bills to a 17-point lead. A LeSean McCoy interception at the 1-yard-line followed by McCoy being dropped in the end zone for an Arizona safety made it 33-18.

From there, the Buffalo defense held, including two more interceptions before the final buzzer.

Taylor went 14-25 on the day for 119 yards and an interception. He also had 79 yards on the ground including a 20-yard touchdown run and a 49-yard run — the longest by a quarterback in Buffalo Bills history.

Next week, the Bills travel to take on the division rival New England Patriots. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
