
The men’s team started the race out strong, leading for most of the first two miles. In his first race of the season, Andrew Berge led the way for the Bulls. Berge finished with a time of 24:47.20, enough for an individual fourth place finish overall. Also placing in the Top-15, was Franklyn Pfeil. Pfeil was able to nab a 12th place finish when he completed the race in 25:22.80, nearly two seconds before the 13th place finish. Just narrowly missing out on a Top-15 finish was sophomore, Jack Jibb. Jibb placed 18th with a time of 25:31.90.
Bulls’ freshman, Stephanie Ward, gave competitor Jenny Delsignore from Duquesne a run for her money in the final stretch of the 6K. Ward refused to back down, but came up a little short, when Delsigmore edged past her in the last few yards. Stephanie Ward was able to seal a second place finish at 21:29.20, nearly 14 seconds before the third place finisher.
The women had seven females place in the Top-15, with three placing in the Top-10. Joining Ward were Rachel Barich (22:02) and Morgan Mahoney (22:10.40), who placed sixth and eighth respectively. Corinne Birchard just missed out on a Top-10 finish, clocking in at 22:24.50, an 11th place finish. Sylvia Russell, Meagan Hopkins, and Charlotte Molloy were able to sneak into the Top-15, finishing twelfth, fourteenth, and fifteenth respectively.
The Bulls are back in action on Saturday, October 1st when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Invitational.
