Buffalo is one of the hotbeds of hockey in the United States and it might add another player’s name to the list of those that passed through it on his road to the NHL.

Former Buffalo State goalie Kevin Carr signed a professional tryout agreement with the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, giving him a shot to secure a spot within the organization.

Carr, 26, played at Buffalo State from 2010-14.  He holds the program records for career wins (45), shutouts (nine), saves (3,225), save percentage (.921) and is second lowest all-time in goals against average (2.67).  Carr was named to the All-American Third Team during his senior year, and was a part of the All-SUNYAC teams during all four seasons with the Bengals.  He backstopped Buffalo State to three-consecutive SUNYAC semifinal appereances.

After graduation, the Unionville, Ont. native went undrafted and signed his first professional contract with the Peoria Rivermen of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Carr is now a part of the Canucks ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces, after being acquired from the Tulsa Oilers in late August.  During his two years spent with the Oilers (2014-2016), Carr recorded 51 wins, a 2.56 goals against average and .911 save percentage.

The Canucks will now give him a shot to make a name for himself.

Training camp for Vancouver runs Sept. 22-26 in Whistler, B.C.
