LOCKPORT — Lockport officials have declared that the massive fire at the High Tread International tire recycling facility on Aug. 10 was arson.

Investigation by the Lockport Police and Fire departments concluded that the fire, which burned for nearly 72 hours and claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy, was deliberately set. The case was forwarded to the Niagara County Probation Department, as the suspect or suspects are reportedly juveniles.

It was claimed early on by the owner of HTI that the fire was deliberately set by juveniles.
