Jack Hefferon, 75 of Barker, entered peacefully into rest on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, surrounded by his loving family and the compassionate embrace of Hospice care.

Jack was born March 21, 1941 in Buffalo, NY and was raised in Wheatfield on the family farm, worked at his Dad’s Gulf Service Station at the corner of Delaware Ave. and Sheridan Dr. where his love for fast cars grew. Jack was a Ford man who loved to smoke the tires. He enjoyed painting vehicles and excelled at the art. Accomplishments included painting one of Bell’s Lunar Landers, a Bell X-1 aircraft, and Jim Hurtubise’s #56 Indy 500 race car to name a few. In earlier days, Jack enjoyed roller dancing at the Rainbow Rink and was a member of the St. Johnsburg Drum and Bugle Corp. He met his girl, Nancy, at the Town Tavern in Tonawanda, he wooed her with hair spray and chocolates. Jack loved a good party and spending his mornings at the coffee shop. He retired from VanDeMark Chemical in Lockport, NY in 1994. Jack was a meticulous landscaper who enjoyed mowing his lawn and gardening in retirement. Jack startled easily which gave the kids much pleasure, enjoyed a good belly laugh, and dearly loved his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy, his children, Dana, Steven (Tobi), and Daniel (Stephanie), and his six grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Jessica, Brian, Cameron, and Donovan. Jack was one of 14 children born to the late James and Mary (Smith) Hefferon. Surviving siblings include brothers Richard and David (Cheryl); sisters Rosemary Siegmann, Betty Verrall, Dorothy (Edward) Getty, Shirley Crites, Helen Waldrip, Patricia (Gary) Doak.

Predeceased by brothers Russell, George, Robert, Harvey and sister Marjorie Morgan. Surviving sister-in-law Carole Hefferon. Jack will also be missed by sister-in-law and dear friend, Lyn, and many nieces and nephews.
