BUFFALO — A 43-year-old Buffalo man was charged Saturday morning with driving while impaired by drugs after striking an Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy on Niagara Street.

According to Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard, John Booker crossed the center line around 8:30 a.m., striking a ECSO patrol vehicle, then continued down Niagara Street.

The deputy stopped Booker and found him to be impaired by drugs and in possession of crack cocaine. Booker was charged with DWI-drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation, criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic infractions.

The deputy sustained minor injuries.
