WHEATFIELD — The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double fatal car/ pedestrian crash which occurred in front of 6680 Shawnee Road shortly after midnight.

According to NCSO preliminary investigation, 20-year-old Carly Marrs was driving south on Shawnee Road when she encountered several vehicles and pedestrians along the roadway, striking three pedestrians. A fourth pedestrian, who was walking with the three who were struck, was not hit or injured. He immediately called 911 to report the crash.

Pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash were 18-year-old Melanie Aronow of Amherst and 18-year-old Quience Harper Lockport. Mercy Flight transported Quincy Byrd, also 18, of Lockport to ECMC. His condition is unknown at this time. Marrs was transported via ambulance to DeGraff Hospital in North Tonawanda with minor injuries. She was interviewed by investigators at the hospital and was cooperative.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division and Accident Reconstruction team, along with the District Attorney’s Office continue to investigate the fatal crash. No charges have been filed at this time. There will be no further information released at this time pending further investigation.
