BUFFALO — A 74-year-old Buffalo man was sentenced to six months in jail for making false statements on a passport application, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr.

In October, Porfirio Rosa had attempted to renew passport for a Luis Rosa, who died in 1995.  As proof of identity and citizenship, the defendant submitted an expired U.S. passport issued in 2003 in the name of Luis Rosa. The application was mailed mailed to Arizona from the defendant’s residence in Buffalo.

At the time of his arrest, Rosa was in possession of several New York State identification cards as well as federal Social Security cards containing several different names, dates of birth, and social security numbers.
