NEWSTEAD — A 27-year-old Akron man was charged Monday with driving while intoxicated after police say he fled the scene of a rollover accident on Martin Road.

According to Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard, deputies responded to a call for an accident around 4:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found that the operator had fled the scene. But armed with a description of the driver, they searched the area, finding Dustin Gothard on Cedar Street.

In addition to DWI, deputies cited Gothard for obstructing governmental administration, unlicensed driving, and nine vehicle and traffic infractions including operating a vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered vehicle and improper plates.

Gothard was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment today.
