AMITY — A 36-year-old Belmont woman was charged Saturday with three counts of reckless endangerment after police say she grabbed the steering wheel of a vehicle she was the passenger in and veered it off the road.

According to New York State Police, Marie A. Halsey was the front seat passenger of a vehicle traveling South bound on ST-19. Halsey had a verbal argument with the driver of the vehicle, then grabbed the steering wheel and caused the vehicle to exit the roadway.  All four occupants in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Halsey was arrested and processed at SP Amity before being remanded to the Allegany County Jail on $1,000 bail. She is slated to reappear in the Town of Amity court later this month.
