If food is your thing, this is a good weekend to be in Western New York. Aside from all the tasty treats at the Erie County Fair, Western New York celebrates a pair of “Taste-ofs” this weekend and there’s even tasty treats from around the world at Buffalo’s “Yelp Without Borders” party.

Want to start with some tea while honoring the 71st anniversary of the end of World War II? Well, the Rosie the Riveter Tea Party from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Steel Plant Museum of WNY — 100 Lee St., Buffalo — could be the spot you need to be at. The Buffalo Dolls will be there, as will a whole whack of Rosie the Riveters. You could go as Rosie yourself, if you’re so inclined. Admission is $3 at the door, and additional donations are gratefully accepted.

After tea, it’s on to the Taste of Ellicottville, running noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday on Monroe Street. Ellicottville’s fine restaurants will be set up “cafe style” on the streets. Tickets are $1 each and items are between $1-$4. You can purchase tickets at the main ticket booth centrally located in the village.

If you want to “catch ’em all,” make sure you to Ellicottville on Saturday so you have time to head to Lockport on Sunday for the Taste of Lockport from noon to 6 p.m. at Ida Fritz Park. Like the Ellicottville affair, the Taste of Lockport is $1-$4 tastings.

Wrap up the weekend food binge at the Yelp Without Borders party from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the International Institute of Buffalo, 864 Delaware Ave. There will be food from Sun Roll, The Big Easy, Rancho’s Latin Food, Abyssinia Ethiopian Cuisine, Michelle’s Caribbean Cuisine, Teton Kitchen — and drinks from Ashker’s Juice Bar, Community Beer Works, Midgard Winery, and Big Ditch Brewing Co. Reservations are required and a donation is suggested to the International Institute of Buffalo but there is no entrance fee.

But what happens on Monday when you’re still hungry? Joe’s Deli invites you to celebrate 10 years of business with $2.06 sandwiches. The offer is good from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. at both Joe’s (original) Hertel and (kind of new) Elmwood Avenue locations.
