LOCKPORT — Residents of several streets are being ordered from their homes as numerous fire companies battle a blaze that began in an old paper mill on Stevens Street and has spread considerably.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office has issued an order that residents of homes and businesses on West Avenue, Stevens, Prospect, Ohio South Bristol, Bacon, Webb and Windsor streets evacuate and find shelter elsewhere.

The Salvation Army building at Cottage and Walnut streets is open to those in need of shelter. North Park School will be opened for evacuees, as well.
