WILSON — As fire swept through a Cambria-Wilson Road home around 3:10 a.m., a passerby stopped to alert the residents. But they were already on their way out the door, awakened in the middle of the night by smoke detectors.

Now those Wilson residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross as the home suffered severe damage from the blaze.

Fortunately, the three human occupants of the home — a 67-year-old female, a 61-year-old male, and an 86-year-old female — made it out of the house unharmed, as did a pet cat. Unfortunately, it appears that a pet dog didn’t make it out of the house.

The blaze was extinguished by Wilson and South Wilson Vol. Fire Cos. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Niagara County Origin and Cause unit. No estimate of loss is available at this time.
