BUFFALO — A pair of Buffalo men were charged early this morning after a traffic stop led to a high-speed chase — and crash.

According to Buffalo Police, the incident began at Holden and Leroy avenues just before 2:30 a.m. when Northeast District officers were conducting a traffic stop at that intersection. At some point, the suspects took off at a high rate of speed, passing stop signs and red lights before crashing their vehicle in the first block of Pleasant Place.

Police say one of the suspects was apprehended with over 50 bags of crack cocaine in his possession and a loaded revolver was recovered from a nearby garbage tote.

Charged were 18-year-old Bryan Braswell and 20-year-old Amani Johnson. Charges include criminal possession of a narcotic drug, criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell, criminal possession of a loaded weapon, obstruction of governmental administration, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop at a stop sign and speed not reasonable and prudent.
