NORTH TONAWANDA — A GoFundMe page set up to assist the North Tonawanda firefighter who lost his own home today to fire has raised over $10,000 in five hours.

The page, created by Shawn Moynihan of North Tonawanda, aims to raise $15,000 for the family of Kenneth Walker, whose home went up in flames today after he had received a threatening letter on Monday saying he should resign from Gratwick Hose by the end of the week or he would “regret it.”

Aside from the GoFundMe page, the Gratwick Fire Department will be accepting donations for the Walker family from from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. The department has also made its phone number — 716-692-9675 — available to those inquiring how to further help.

UPDATE: The GoFundMe has surpassed the original $15,000 goal with $18,114 in donations as of 11 p.m. The goal has since been raised to $25,000.

UPDATE: The GoFundMe has now raised $35,154 of the second stated $25,000 goal and donations continue to pour in as of 10:30 a.m.
