In its seventh year, the All WNY Music Awards is comprised of 64 categories from best stage presence to best swag. A published list of nominees as of July 22 shows that some categories offer some very stiff competition this year; Nearly two dozen bands have been nominated as the best new band in all the land — or in All WNY, at least. However, the Best Ska Band and Best Poet/Spoken Word category had no nominees yet.
As is true to All WNY Radio’s original goals, nominees from from everywhere from Jamestown to Rochester and everywhere in between.
After nominations close — at 11:59 p.m. Sunday — the All WNY Awards staff will verify the nominee’s qualifications, get band/musician bios and music samples and put the full list out to a vote of the general public. It’s a lot of work to accomplish in the month before general voting begins on Sept. 1. Voting will conclude on Oct. 15 and an award ceremony will be held in December, honoring both 2015 and 2016 All WNY Music Award winners.
