ROCHESTER — Carlos Paulino had two hits and drove in two runs, helping the Rochester Red Wings to a 4-0 win over the Norfolk Tides Saturday at Frontier Field.

LHP Andrew Albers got the start for Rochester, in search of his second straight victory. RHP David Hale took the mound for Norfolk, coming off his first win of the year in his last start.

The Tides loaded the bases with two outs in the third inning, but Albers got Francisco Pena to pop out to avoid any further trouble.

Daniel Palka gave the Wings the first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth on a home run into the right field bullpen. It was Palka’s third homer since joining Rochester on July 7. Wilfredo Tovar extended the lead to 2-0 and his hitting streak to six games with a double that scored Byung Ho Park. Paulino plated two more runs with a single, scoring Tovar and Buck Britton to make it a 4-0 advantage.

Albers’ night ended after six innings, as he was relieved by D.J. Baxendale. Albers scattered eight hits but did not allow a run, walking two and striking out two. He threw threw 92 pitches, 64 for strikes.

Hale was also taken out after the sixth, relieved by Zach Phillips. Hale allowed eight hits and four earned runs, striking out six and issuing one walk. He threw 82 pitches, 52 for strikes.

Phillips struck out the side in the seventh before the Tides brought in Jason Stoffel.

Baxendale recorded a strikeout in two shutout innings, throwing 17 pitches, 13 for strikes. Ryan O’Rourke pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to seal the 4-0 shutout. Albers got the win to improve to 8-3, while Hale was charged with the loss, making his record 1-5.
