LEWISTON — A man died early this morning in a one-car crash on Ransomville Road, according to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.
The NCSO report states that Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at Ridge and Ransomville roads just before 2 a.m. A call to dispatch had alerted them that a vehicle left the roadway with its engine compartment on fire.
Ransomville Vol. Fire Co. responded to the scene and extinguished the flames, but the male occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was traveling south on Ransomville Road when it failed to stop at the stop sign at Ridge Road. Investigation to continue by the Niagara County Accident Investigation Unit.
The name of the deceased is being withheld pending identification and notification of the family.
