What started as one 211-person power outage in the Town of Lockport continues tospread across Niagara County and through Erie County, now affecting more than 10,000 National Grid and NYSEG customers.

As of 2 a.m., nearly 6,000 National Grid customers are now without power — an increase from approximately 400 without power around 1:40 a.m.

Also, approximately 800 NYSEG customers in Erie and Niagara County are now without power, up from just one at 1:40 a.m.

  • EDIT: As of 2:10 a.m., there are 63 active National Grid outages across Western New York, affecting 7,165 customers, including 700 additional customers in Darien Center since the 2 a.m. update.
  • EDIT: At 2:20 a.m., NYSEG announced that approximately 1,400 customers in Erie and Niagara counties are without power, primarily in Orchard Park and Clarence. 
  • EDIT: Another 622 National Grid customers lost power between 2:10 and 2:25 a.m. for a total of 7,787. 
  • EDIT: The total number of National Grid customers without power at 2:43 a.m. is not 7.817 — and increase of 30 since 2:25 a.m. Almost all should have power restored by 4 a.m., according to the company. 
  • EDIT: As of 3 a.m., there are 62 active National Grid outages affecting 9,594 customers — mostly in Niagara County. And 1,387 NYSEG customers without power in Erie and Niagara counties. 
  • EDIT: Power has been restored to more than 1,000 National Grid customers. The tally at 3;15 a.m. is 8,459 National Grid customers and 1,387 NYSEG customers without power.
  • EDIT: As of 3:59 a.m., there remain 8,438 combined National Grid and NYSEG customers without power. Power is expected to be restored to most by 5 a.m. Buffalo customers should be back online by 6 a.m., and customers in the North Tonawanda area by 8:30 a.m.
