LOCKPORT — This week offers more than dozen events at the Lockport Public Library as part of its 2016 Summer Reading Program, “On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!”

Lockport-area children are invited to come into the library’s Children’s Department to sign-up for a summer of fun reading, programs and prizes. Weekly programs include story times, Artist Club, Science Club, Mysterious Maker Mondays, Family Fun Nights, Drop-In Craft days, and Wild Wacky Wednesdays.

This week’s events include:

  • Monday 2 p.m. – Artist Club – creating masterpieces based on artist Jasper Johns
  • Monday 5 p.m. – Mysterious Maker Monday – use your imagination to create
  • Tuesday 10 a.m. – Ice Cream Treats Storytime
  • Tuesday 2 p.m. – Science Club – The Science of Tae Kwon Do
  • Wednesday 10 a.m. – Ice Cream Treats Storytime
  • Wednesday 10 a.m. – Outwater Park Storytime (at Outwater Park)
  • Wednesday 2 p.m. – Wild Wacky Wednesday
  • Wednesday 6:30 p.m. – Family Fun Night – Family Yoga
  • Thursday 10 a.m. – Little Sports Storytime – Two Scoops of Fun
  • Thursday 2 p.m. Pop Secret & Ice Cream – The Science Behind Bubble Gum & Ice Cream
  • Friday 10 a.m. Day Road Park Storytime (at Day Road Park)
  • Friday 10 a.m. – Make & Take Craft – Sweet Surprise
  • Friday 2 p.m. Not Your Average Book Club – Charlie and the Chocolate Factory                    

Registration is required for some events. Due to space and supply restrictions registration is required for some events, the library asks those who register but cannot come to notify them so others may be added to the list. On the day of the program, spaces for those on the list will be held for 10 minutes. After that, the spaces will be offered to anyone waiting to participate.
