TOWN OF LEWISTON — A 42-year-old Gasport man was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance following a Wednesday morning traffic stop on Saunders Settlement Road.

According to New York State Police, Terry Hutchinson was stopped for operating with a suspended registration. Hutchinson’s driving privileges were also suspended. During an inventory of his vehicle, a plastic bag containing cocaine was located.

Hutchinson was taken into custody and transported to SP Niagara where he was processed and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating with a suspended registration and operating without insurance — in addition to the drug charge. Following arraignment in the Town of Lewiston Court, he was remanded to the Niagara County Jail in lieu of bail.
