OLCOTT — The 2016 Olcott Pirates Festival begins in just six hours, transforming Krull Park into a pirates cove for three glorious days.

The rain-or-shine pirate-themed festival offers food, games, rides, a car show, entertainment and one of Western New York’s best annual parades.

It runs from 6 p.m. until midnight tonight, noon to midnight Saturday and noon to midnight Sunday.

Throughout the event, the Great Lakes Freebooters pirate encampment will offer demonstrations and the opportunity for kids — no matter their age — to interact with the pirates. Saturday and Sunday, pirates will invade the beach, firing canons and flintlocks in a staged battle. Performances by the Pyrate Brotherhood and a kid’s treasure hunt also promise to be highlights of the event.
