BURNS — An 85-year-old Canaseraga man is in critical condition following a collision between the car he was driving and a train this afternoon.
According to New York State Police, Frank N. Schirmer was driving a 2008 Jeep Compass on County Route 15b around 2:30 p.m. when he went through the crossing barriers as a Norfolk Southern train approached.
The train struck the Jeep causing it to leave the roadway, injuring Schirmer. The train has minimal damage.
This is an open and active investigation.
