FRIENDSHIP — New York State Police charged a pair of young men with driving while intoxicated after police say they say both went through a stop sign and fled Troopers who attempted to stop them.

According to NYSP, around 2:15 a.m. Sunday, James A. Wilson II, 21 of Wellsville, and Zachary J. Wiech, 19 of Scio, were seen going through a stop sign at the intersection of Blouvet Roud and Howard Road, one driving a gray Subuary and the other following in a white Ford F350.

“Troopers activated emergency lights and siren and attempted to initiate a traffic stop and both vehicles failed to comply,” according to the police report. “Both vehicles turned onto State Route 275 in the Town of Wirt. A pursuit was initiated and both vehicles continued southbound on St-275 until they observed a Village of Bolivar Police vehicle. Both vehicles complied and stopped just north of the Village of Richburg.”

Wilson, who was driving the Subaru, was found to have a .08 percent blood alcohol content. Wiech, driving the pickup, was recorded as having a .12 percent BAC.

Both subjects were arraigned at the Town of Friendship Court and released to a third party.
