BUFFALO — If you’ve ever wanted to ride a bicycle naked through the city all while bringing awareness to oil addiction and the the negative impacts of car culture, the Buffalo World Naked Bike Ride is just what you’ve been hoping for.

Part of a worldwide phenomenon, the Buffalo World Naked Bike Ride asks participants to “bare as you dare,” on July 9th to “help us promote our vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world.”

Participants — it’s open to all – are asked to arrive at the ride checkpoint clothed (to be announced) between 7 and 7:30 p.m. From there they will be sent to the actual start point to disrobe and go.

A few points from the ride’s event page:

  • Sometimes bystanders get grabby.
  • Obey police and thank them for their help.
  • Participants must utilize person-powered wheels.
  • No photos in before/after space — but expect to be photographed while on the ride.
  • Full nudity not necessary. Many wear undergarments.
  • Ride is about 8 – 10 p.m.
  • Route will not be announced in advance and maps are not guaranteed.

Those who wish to watch are advised to congregate at Bidwell Parkway and Elmwood Avenue at 8 p.m.
