BOSTON — A 47-year-old Hamburg man was charged Monday with driving while intoxicated after being pulled over for driving in the wrong direction on the 219.

According to Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard, Raymond Hangen was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of Route 219 early Monday when ECSO Sheriff’s Deputies and Orchard Park Police responded, intercepting the vehicle between the Rice Road and Boston exits.

Hangen was determined to be intoxicated and transported to the Springville Substation where his blood alcohol content was reportedly more than twice the legal limit.

Hangen was charged with DWI, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operation, and two traffic infractions. He was released to a sober third party and has a future court appearance in Boston Town Court.
