BUFFALO — Buffalo’s premiere professional outdoor theater company will open their 41st season Thursday with the debut of their new stage.

The success of Shakespeare in Delaware Park‘s $1.2 capital campaign has led to a stage designed for ease of assembly/disassembly, multiple configurations for different productions, as well as increased area for dressing rooms and prop storage among other improvements. Greater detail of the stage redesign are published on SDP’s website, and leading donors are thanked there, as well. (Check the list at right)

The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday at 7:15 p.m., immediately prior to the opening of The Winter’s Tale at 7:30.

The SDP website notes, “The Winter’s Tale was SDP’s very first production in 1976 and will now be the first production on the brand new stage in 2016.”

The Winter’s Tale runs June 23 to July 17, with performances Tuesdays through Sundays at 7:30 p.m. After a brief hiatus, The Taming of the Shrew will open July 28, running through Aug. 21.
