Tonight at 6:30, Western New York’s LBGTQ community gathers for the 25th Candlelight Wish Ceremony.

Performances, presentations and recreations are planned to mark the anniversary of the 1991 event that grew to become Buffalo’s Pride Week.

The Wish Chorus will perform, and in attendances will be speakers and performers from the original event, including George K. Arthur, Chuck Basil, Greg Bodekor, Madeline Davis, Donn Esmonde, Sam Hoyt (son of Bill Hoyt), Ellen Kennedy, Anne Hartley Pfohl, Carol Speser, Betsy Swift, and Leah Zicari.

Also available to be viewed for the first time is a digitally remastered video of the original Wish Ceremony which took place behind the Buffalo History Museum.

Doors open for the free public event at Evergreen Commons, 67 Prospect Ave., at 6:30 p.m., with the celebration beginning at 7:30 p.m.
